The 2026 “Bluebonnet” Texas State Light Varmint & Sporter Championship in New Braunfels, Texas USA delivered everything benchrest shooters expect from the Texas Hill Country — heavy rain, switching winds, difficult mirage, and constantly changing conditions.

Through it all, Speedy Gonzalez delivered an outstanding performance using a March  48×52 Benchrest  Riflescope. Speedy opened strong by winning the Light Varmint 100-yard match with a superb 0.2320 Agg, then followed it up with another victory in the 200-yard Light Varmint event, shooting an impressive 0.1938 Agg in challenging afternoon conditions. On Sunday, he continued his excellent weekend by winning the Sporter 200-yard match with a 0.2227 Agg, handling tricky dead-calm conditions and heavy mirage with consistency and precision.

When the final scores were tallied, Speedy Gonzalez’s consistent performance throughout the weekend earned him:

• Texas State Light Varmint Champion — 0.2720
• Texas State Sporter Champion — 0.2083
• 2026 Bluebonnet 2-Gun Champion — 0.2401

While Speedy Gonzalez captured the Light Varmint, Sporter, and overall 2-Gun Championships, the 2026 Bluebonnet also featured outstanding performances from many top shooters throughout the weekend. Congratulations to all competitors — including fellow March scope users — who battled through demanding Texas conditions and produced remarkable groups and aggregates. This year’s Bluebonnet once again showcased the high level of skill, competition, and sportsmanship within the benchrest community.
