Mari Morita learning the basics of PRS Shooting with MDT and taking on the 1 Mile Challenge
Posted 11/07/2024
I (Mari Morita at DEON, manufacturer of March Scopes) was very honored to receive one-on-one coaching from Andy Slade, a PRS professional shooter at MDT, on the fundamentals of PRS shooting. This YouTube video was filmed during that session. In Japan, I participate in ISSF shooting (Olympic-style, 10m, 50m, 300m). However, shooting regulations in Japan are very strict, and the longest shooting range available domestically is 300m, with only two such ranges in the country. (Shooting with iron sights is the standard, but shooting with a riflescope is allowed at 50m and 300m Masters competitions due to the small shooting population and aging of shooters.) As indoor shooting is the norm here, it is unfortunately difficult to learn about reading wind conditions. As someone who works in the scope manufacturing industry, I wanted to see for myself how overseas shooters approach shooting, so I participated in an F-Class competition held in Australia in 2019. Although I was almost a beginner when it came to long-range shooting affected by wind, thanks to Andy’s guidance, I was eventually able to shoot a mile, which was an incredibly valuable and exciting learning experience.
In this video, I shot with a pre-production March-FX 5-42X56 GenII PRS version with the FML-WBR WBR reticle, a 26 degrees AOV (wide angle eyepiece), and the writable turrets (March PRS scope). In January 2025, we will start taking orders for this latest riflescope.
Thank you very much to everyone at MDT for this fantastic opportunity!!!
