Waterproof test of March riflescopes
Posted 07/26/2024
At DEON (manufacturer of March Scopes in Japan), each March riflescope is inspected using a custom-made airtightness testing device (=leak test). The March scope will not be shipped unless it passes this inspection and a total of 20 other tests.
We conduct leak tests, and to confirm the certainty of the leak test, we conduct waterproof tests. In order to perform the waterproof test, we built a special 4-meter-long (13.12 feet) tube apparatus. We submerge the March scope at the bottom of this tube for a period of one month to observe the progress of the process. After the test is completed, we are able to confirm that water does not enter the riflescope, that functionality is not impaired, and that it does not fog up. The image below shows a March 1-10×24 FFP scope with illumination module being tested.
For your reference, the March scope has an IPX rating of IPX-8 or better. Please use the March scope with confidence.
