March-X 8-80×56 Majesta Gen II vs. Gen I – Improved Resolution, Stability, and Real-World Performance
Posted 05/25/2026
We are often asked about the differences between March 8-80×56 Majesta Gen I and Gen II, so we’ve put together this article to explain the key improvements and characteristics of the new generation.
-The primary goal of March-X 8-80×56 Majesta Gen II was to improve image quality at close range, while also comprehensively redesigning the optical system to enhance resolution and optical stability at longer distances.
-Compared to Gen I, resolution has been significantly improved from the center to the edge of the field of view, delivering a more uniform, immersive, and consistent image across the entire sight picture.
-Temperature stability has also been substantially enhanced, minimizing focus shift under changing environmental conditions. This characteristic is expected to provide a major advantage in Field Target competitions, where precise focus adjustment is critical.
-In addition, the scope has been optimized to reduce the effects of mirage, helping maintain image clarity in challenging conditions.
-One of the new features introduced with Gen II is the writable turret option. These turrets allow users to write numbers, range marks, or other custom references directly onto the turret surface using a whiteboard marker and erase them later as needed. This makes it easy to customize settings for different shooting conditions or disciplines without making permanent changes.
-For Field Target shooters, 8-80×56 Majesta Gen II FT Package is available, featuring a dedicated focus system designed to deliver faster and more precise close-range focusing. Designed by a Field Target shooter, a dedicated reticle was developed specifically for the FT model to meet the demands of competition. Middle and Large wheels will be included.

My Personal Experience
The following observations are based on my personal shooting experience (Mari Morita) at the F-Class Southwest Nationals and at Bayou Shooting Range, Texas in the USA.
-In my opinion, Gen II delivers roughly the same image quality at 1000 yards that Gen I provided at around 800–900 yards. That was probably the most noticeable improvement for me at distance.
-Gen II also appears brighter than Gen I. During one of my evening sessions, I found I could continue shooting for approximately 15 minutes longer at sunset before losing the image quality I was comfortable with.
-When mirage conditions became severe, I did not notice a dramatic difference between the two generations. However, the target rings seemed slightly easier to distinguish with Gen II.
-Overall, Gen II produced a cleaner image and, in my side-by-side comparison, appeared to have less of a whitish appearance than Gen I. To be fair, this difference only became obvious when comparing both scopes side by side.
-From my personal experience, I found the black markings on the silver writable turret easier to read compared to standard engraved markings. As my eyes are not getting any younger, this feature turned out to be surprisingly practical and made quick adjustments easier in the field. Numbers on the right direction of the windage are written in red color. These may seem like a small change, but for shooters who value usability and visibility, the writable turret is a thoughtful addition to Gen II. Custom scope configurations are available upon request (additional charges apply). Customers may choose options such as a grey body paired with writable turrets, or a black body equipped with shuriken lock turrets, allowing each scope to be tailored to individual preferences.
Of course, everyone’s eyesight is different, but these were my personal observations based on actual use. We hope this article helps provide a better understanding of the differences. We thank you for your continued support!
